Angels School Lunch Program.
We has been providing the school lunch program since 2017 to Bundaberg and surrounding primary schools. It started off with only one school and we know work with 10 schools each week.
What exactly is the Angels School Lunch Program?
We provide a number of lunches to 10 schools each week. They are made up fresh every school term Wednesday by Angels Community Group staff and volunteers. The sandwiches are wrapped, frozen and packed in a box with some other snacks. The schools then pick the lunches up on Thursday each week and keep them in a freezer at the school. When a teacher notices a student who didn’t bring lunch to school, they give them one of the Angels Lunches.
What is in a lunch?
A fresh sandwich (usually ham and cheese), piece of fruit, two snacks, one home made like a muffin and one prepackaged snack. When it is possible in the budget we add in a juice popper.
How much does the student/parent/school/government pay per lunch?
Absolutely nothing. It is a completely free service.
Who does pay for the lunches then?
It is a joint effort between, Angels Community Group and generous people who donate to this program. We do not receive any government funding for this program.
How much does it cost each week to provide these lunches?
On average it costs $170 each week to provide 155 school lunches.
